Outside {the} Office
Two summers ago, we rehabbed our old back porch. It was basically gross and unusable. When we refinanced, our lender actually held money that we wouldn’t get back until we had fixed at least the sagging roof.
So fix it we did. We tore out the old and started fresh. After two-ish months of construction, it was complete, including screening it in to keep the bugs at bay. Our family really enjoys spending time out there. We have benches, tables, and a basketball hoop for the little guy. We drink our morning coffee and frequently eat dinner out there.
This past spring, I decided to do work out there. I moved my home office outdoors. Now it’s my favorite place to work, and I feel much more productive out there. I frequently find myself getting sluggish and distracted when I’m at my “real” office, but when I’m pared down to a cell phone, my laptop, and the breeze, I can really focus on the task at hand, and I feel so blessed by my beautiful work environment.
I encourage you to find not only a job you love, but also a place where you love to do that job!
